Preschool Information

Preschool Program Information:

 Enrollment Types: There are three types of enrollment for preschool programs.  Those include:

1. Fee-Based Peer Spots 
2. Grant Funded Spots
3. Special Education Services (Special Education service decisions are made on an individual basis by IEP teams.) 

Programs Available: Three and four-year-old programs are available.  All programs are half-day.

Attendance Days and Time

3-to-4-year-old Program

• Monday to Thursday, 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
  (must be 3 by August 31, unless referred by Infant Toddler)

4-to-5-year-old Program

• Monday to Thursday, 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
  (must be 4 by August 31 and not kindergarten eligible) 

*Note: the morning 4-to 5-year old program is dependent on enrollment each school year.

Transportation: Transportation is not available for fee-based spots.  Transportation is available for grant funded spots and may be available for students receiving special education services (those decisions are made by IEP teams).

Classroom Size: Classroom sizes range from 10 to 15 students with 2 to 4 staff members.

 

Vision Statement 

It is the vision of the USD 232 early childhood program, in cooperation with families, to create enthusiasm for lifelong learning where every child can learn in a rich and playful educational environment. 

Philosophy

Purpose - Early intervention provides basic foundations for a child's educational life experiences.  Our purpose is to promote a safe, nurturing, nonrestrictive educational environment while working collaboratively with staff, family and community.  Our program is designed to provide a positive experience to all children and their families, where their economic, cultural, and educational diversity is valued.

Main Function

Where children can develop necessary skills for lifelong learning in all areas (fine motor, cognition, gross motor, adaptive, social and communication) through developmentally appropriate activities, natural settings, peer interactions and play, supportive and positive partnerships between family, school and community, individualized supports and a smooth transition to kindergarten. 

Population

Our program serves children ages three to five who reside in USD 232 or children of USD 232 staff who are not kindergarten eligible.

Outcomes

The outcome of our program is to enhance the confidence and competence of all children and their families through an inclusive setting that fosters successful development.
