About PAT

Components of the Program

Personal Visits 
Certified Parent Educators utilize Parents as Teachers foundational curriculum to provide individualized, strength-based visits to families focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being. Visits are scheduled approximately every 2 to 4 weeks and are about 45-60 minutes long.  

Group Connections
Group Connections (Family Events) provide opportunities for parents to acquire information about child development, parenting and positive parent-child interaction, while gaining support from each other. USD 232 Parents as Teachers offers both adult only and parent/child events throughout the school year. Visit our PAT Calendar to learn what and when events will be held. 

Screenings
Screenings provide regular information about each child's health and developmental progress, increases parents' understanding of their child's development and identifies strengths and abilities, as well as areas of concern. USD 232 Parents as Teachers offers annual screenings to children enrolled in our program as well as all children birth-Kindergarten age in our school district.  

Resource Network
The program connects families to needed resources and takes an active role in the community, establishing ongoing relationships with other institutions and organizations that serve families.  

Monthly Calendars 
Our online PAT calendar features scheduled program activities. In addition, parents enrolled in USD 232 Parents as Teachers receive emails with program information and details about our events.
